The “Cloud” Paintings were inspired by a series of photographs taken in the Kawartha region. From heavenly “bird-shaped” clouds and the sun rising over an island in Lake Katchewanooka to dark storm clouds on the horizon, their intricate formations fascinate me. A blue heron hunts frogs in the shallow creek that empties into the lake down the road. The still water makes for beautiful cloud reflections. A crow rests on a fencepost, silhouetted against a luminous cloud. The crescent moon over an island is diminished by a huge column of clouds. A pair of mallards fly against the wind, set against billowing clouds, that bring to mind the powerful forces of nature.
