This series of fused and painted glass panels evoke a vision of man’s place in an increasingly technological world. The panels explore the relationship between fundamental physical phenomena such as chaos, pattern formation, the arrow of time, the enigma of light and human visual perception. Symbols referring to computer software express various scientific concepts. In each panel there is a double integration of science with art and text with image.
Each panel consists of 20 fused glass squares, painted with vitreous enamels, kiln fired and held together in a lead grid. Size: 2″ x 26″.
“After light, the eye rejoices in shadow and the mind gives it meaning.” Self Portrait
CHAOS -The prismatic bubbles and ripples represent the first semblance of organization as chaos becomes order
EVOLUTION – These details include symbols that evoke a vision of man’s place in an increasingly technological world.
TIME – Although we know that time can be warped by motion and gravitation, its fundamental nature remains an enigma.
NONLINEARITY – The inspiration for this panel comes from computer circuit boards containing micro-processors of silicon, etched by light.
DYNAMIC EQUILIBRIUM – The finely balanced interconnectedness of nature, the human body and cellular functioning amazes me.
LIGHT – The imagery in this panel derives its inspiration from Adobe Photoshop software.
